Hey everyone,
Because the retreats only happen once a year sometimes I forget I really do take 20 people deep into the sand dunes of the Sahara Desert each winter. ..
What kind of crazy idea is that?
I can see the looks of disbelief on the faces of those who come as well - as we walk through the sand dunes to our camp and they’re asking themselves: am I really about to camp in the desert with a bunch of strangers?
But of course they’re not strangers for long.
As we make yoga, meditate, dance, sing, tell stories, eat traditional Berber food, climb enormous dunes, dance around the fire and sleep under the full moon and desert stars, we come together as a group.
Masks fall away. Faces soften. Hearts open.
It’s always my hope that the people who come will really get what the retreat can be. For some people it’s just a nice vacation in the sand dunes. An opportunity for a good new profile photo.
But for others it can be a life-changing experience. A journey of feelings, realisations and new experiences.
And it’s looking at their faces when the retreat ends that keeps me doing this crazy work :)
This year the retreats will be on the:
12 - 18 January with yoga and the joy of dance.
9 - 15 February with meditation and creative voice/movement.
Hope to see some of you there :)
